We caught up with master organist Dr. Lonnie Smith ahead of his performance at the 2013 Iowa City Jazz Festival for a chat about his musical origins.

Who would have thought this highly-influential organist would have started his career as a child singer before a generous benefactor noticed saw Smith's true dedication music, and natural propensity for hard work, and gifted him his first organ for free.
